Tutankhamun

I visited the Tutankhamun exhibition at the O2 centre in London this week with 2 Key Stage 2 classes on a school trip. I had booked it months ago when all the adverts were out suggesting it as a great family outing.

The artefacts were amazing and really interesting, but the exhibition had not been made child friendly enough for my liking. There were many other schools there with KS2 children, but there was little for them to do. They could only look at the exhibits and artefacts, for which the labels were too complicated for them to understand. They should have had more hands on activities and simplified labels on exhibits that children could read and find out information for themselves from.

The facilities and space at the venue were good and the marquee provided for lunch was large, clean and airy with seating and tables for all. Would I take children there again? No, probably not the Year 3 children, but maybe Year 5 and 6, although there is plenty of scope for improvement.
